For the 2000-2001 Chapter Year, our Chapter officers were Ed Dusch, President; Chip Summers, President-Elect; John Dorn, Secretary; and Jess Farber, Treasurer. The Board of Governors for the year were Mike Berger, Doug Engel and Rick Vowels.
For this season, the Board of Governors decided to expand the lunch meeting idea from the previous years to alternate months. These lunch meetings were held downtown at the Galt House. The evening programs started at the Marriott at Bluegrass Industrial Park but were quickly changed to J. Kayrouz in St. Matthews when we lost money on the September meeting
The Board of Governors also alternated meeting times and locations during the year between lunches at Logan’s on Shelbyville Road and President Ed Dusch’s office at the Medical Center Steam Plant in the late afternoons. All topics of concern were discussed to ensure our programs were carried out in the best possible manner.
All the meetings included a wide variety of interesting technical subjects and were well attended. The most unusual was the technical tour of Southeast Christian Church in March. This was a joint meeting with the Louisville ASME Section. The annual Chapter Review was in December at Hurstborne Country Club. Terry Townsend, Region VII DRC, acted as Reviewing Officer. The Chapter Christmas party was a dinner at the home of President Dusch and his wife Marlane.
The Chapter participated in the Region VII CRC at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville in September. Mike Berger as the Delegate and Ed Dusch as the Alternate carried out their various responsibilities in an admirable fashion. Others participating were Bob Logsdon for Research Promotion, Matt Hargan for Historian and as a lecturer in the TEGA Workshop, Leonard O’Dell as Regional Historian, Chip Summers for Chapter Programs and Ken Peet as Research Promotion RVC. A number of Awards were presented to Louisville Chapter members, including two of the very first Chapter Service Awards to Bob Logsdon and Matt Hargan.
Matt Hargan and Ed Dusch were designated as co-chairs for the 2003 CRC to be held in Louisville. The remainder of the CRC committee staffing will be done next season. Due to the large number of annual conventions in Louisville and the relative shortage of desirable downtown hotels with the meeting room space needed, the hotel selection process was accomplished over the 2000-2001 Winter with the assistance of the Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau. The site will be the Galt House East.
