Chapter History - 1997

This year our leader was President David Jackson whose able staff consisted of Jeff  Harrell - President Elect, Mike Berger - Secretary, Dan Adams - Treasurer and Jim Remmers - Board of Governors (also includes all Committee Chairmen). Meetings were held at The INN - Marriott Conference Center mostly in the evenings. However several meeting were held at noon time in an effort to determine the desirability of this meeting time. It was observed that the attendance was slightly greater at noon meeting. The speakers at these meetings were well prepared and the presentations were quite interesting.
The food and service at The INN - Marriott Conference Center was always extremely good. It seems that they know how to prepared chicken in a delicious manner at least a dozen different ways.

Board of Governors meetings were scheduled for one hour prior to each regular meeting. They were usually well attended however the meeting had to hurried because the regular meeting had to be started on time and there was always meeting attendees that came in early.

It was during this year that the name of our newsletter was changed to ~ HEAT WAVES~   which is an appropriate name for a Heating , Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineering newsletter. It has a good ring to it after you get accustomed to it.

Our congratulations go to Robert Logsdon who received the ASHRAE Exceptional Service Award at the Annual meeting in Toronto. Bob was the first ASHRAE member to receive this new award. However, we always knew that he was exceptional! December is the month that the Chapter Review is undertaken by the Regional Chairman.. All committee activity and other aspects of chapter work are thoroughly reviewed. All chapter Officers and Committee Chairman attend this meeting. Prepared presentations by each attendees are discussed at length. The good and the weak points are laid out on the table so that both Region and chapter may benefit.

As usual, the May golf outing organized by Brent Caswell was a successful and fun endeavor that was enjoyed by all that participated. The proceeds from the golf outing increased the chapter Investment in ASHRAE Research Promotion.
