ASHRAE Scholarship Funds Available for Students
Wednesday August 24, 2011

In the HVAC&R industry, economizers are used to reduce heating and cooling costs. The ASHRAE scholarship program also serves as an economizer, helping reduce the financial burdens of obtaining your engineering education. Without you, the future leaders of the HVAC&R industry, we at ASHRAE wouldn’t be able to do what we do. So through our scholarship program, we aim to help you do what you do—learn.

ASHRAE has awarded nearly 200 scholarships during the past 20 years totaling more than $1 million. Nearly $80,000 in scholarships is available for the 2012–13 academic year. Applications are now being accepted for ASHRAE’s 2012–2013 undergraduate engineering, regional and university specific scholarships.

“ASHRAE’s scholarship has helped me cover my tuition expenses and materials, giving me the opportunity to satisfactorily fulfill my undergraduate degree. Not only has the help been economical, but it also helped me develop a genuine interest in this field. With this aid, I only have to focus on being well prepared so I can become a change agent within the HVAC&R industry. For these reasons I’m extremely grateful to ASHRAE and hope they’ll continue supporting future engineers.”

Jacob Vazquez, ITESM (Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) (Mexico), Region VIII Scholarship

“The Reuben Trane scholarship has solidified my involvement in the HVAC industry and has been instrumental in financing my education. It has opened doors for me to further integrate ASHRAE into my educational experience. As well, it has sparked the creation of the first McMaster University ASHRAE Student Branch, bringing my education even closer to the tremendous support and resources available through the ASHRAE network. I look forward to a long career in the HVAC industry.”

Benjamin Oliver, McMaster University (Canada), Mechanical Engineering and management, Reuben Trane Scholarship

Founder of ECT Services to Speak at ASHRAE 2023 Winter Conference

We are pleased to announce that Larry J. Fisher, Founder of ECT Services and former Louisville ASHRAE President, will be speaking at the 2023 ASHRAE Winter Conference!

Topic: Best Practices For Installing DDC Systems

This course covers best installation practices of DDC systems. A facility’s direct digital controls (DDCs) form a living, breathing system that an owner will use throughout the life of the building. If standardized and quality installations are promoted, the short- and long-term success of control systems will be greatly improved. Best Practices for Installing DDC Control Systems will provide tools to ensure uniformity for consultants, contractors, and code officials and will specifically benefit consulting engineers, DDC design integration engineers, commissioning authorities, and contractors who install DDC systems.
